Support the Historic Hemet Theater

The Historic Hemet Theater is an important part of the history and culture of Hemet. But it goes beyond Hemet. This venue brings quality entertainment to Riverside County and Southern California.  We need your help and support to upkeep this historic theater and to continue to bring the type of programs and entertainment that the greater community enjoys.  There are four ways you can help us. Through direct donations, event sponsorship, becoming a Foundation Partner or volunteering at the theater.

Donate to HHT

Built-in 1921 by William Martin, HHT is one of the oldest movie theatres in the country. 

Much more than just an old building, the Historic Hemet Theatre has been a centerpiece of the community for generations. The stories from residents are endless... Saturday morning serial films during the depression, a first kiss in the loge seating... a first job working for "old man Martin"...  In the age before television, movies brought the world to the rural San Jacinto Valley. Through the decades, the theater served as entertainment and a gathering place for valley residents.

The HHT Project will ensure that the theater will survive to entertain, educate, and build memories for generations of residents to come.

Historic Hemet Theater

Foundation

The Historic Hemet Theatre Foundation is dedicated to the acquisition, renovation, and operation of the Historic Hemet Theatre (HHT) as a community arts center.

Events hosted include concerts, films, live theatre, fundraisers for local nonprofits, and educational programs.

The HHT project has three key impacts: 1) the historic preservation of a 1921 movie house (one of the oldest in the nation); 2) cultural enrichment through performing arts and educational programming; and 3) the economic revitalization of Hemet's historic downtown district.

In addition, the HHT project is having a tremendous impact on "community spirit." Volunteers, sponsors, and patrons come together to make a difference in their community.
